Makes 4 servings


  1. Stir together water, apples, oat groats, apple juice, lemon zest, cinnamon and nutmeg in slow cooker or crock pot until thoroughly combined.

  2. Set slow cooker to low, and cook 4 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally. Add water to thin, or cook longer to thicken.

  3. Serve hot, topped with brown sugar and raisins, if desired.
