Makes 2 servings


  1. Combine lentils, onion, and water in medium saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low, and simmer until lentils are soft, about 25 minutes.

  2. Pass lentils through food mill or grind in blender.

  3. Toast curry powder and cumin seeds in small skillet over medium heat until fragrant. Add cayenne, oil and garlic, and whisk until combined.

  4. Stir spice mixture into lentil purée, and season with salt and ground black pepper.
