Black Walnuts have a unique flavor that sets them apart from other walnuts. Their slightly sour undertones are balanced nicely in this recipe with maple syrup and sea salt. This nut butter makes for a great spread on sandwiches with your favorite jam.

Total time: 30 min
Makes 1 1/4 cups
1 Cup Black Walnut Pieces
1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
1 Teaspoon Vegetable Oil
1 Teaspoon Sea Salt
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spread Black Walnut Pieces on baking tray and place in oven for 10 minutes.
Place cooled walnuts in food processor and pulse to a powder consistency. Scrape the processor bowl occasionally and run continuously to form a paste.
As the paste loosens into a more buttery texture drizzle in the oil slowly. Finish by pulsing in maple syrup and salt. Store in clean, tightly sealed jar in refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
