Basmati is a long grain, fragrant rice that cooks fluffier than white rice, but is also stronger in flavor than jasmine rice. We choose aromatic white rice with a sweet, nutty flavor for our White Basmati Rice.
Place 1 cup White Basmati Rice and 1-1/2 cups of water in a pot with a lid. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes. Season as desired. Fluff with fork before serving.
Storage & handling
Store in a dry, cool place for up to 12 months under optimal storage conditions.
Basmati is a fragrant Indian rice with an intoxicating natural aroma. Its nutty, buttery flavor pairs well with savory dishes like curries and other Middle Eastern and Asian fare.
White Basmati Rice is lighter and fluffier than traditional white rice and has a more concentrated flavor than the jasmine variety. Its white, unsticky long grains cook up separate and fluffy, making it a delicious substitute in dishes such as stir-fry, salads, pilafs and desserts.
Deeply satisfying and redolent of caramelized onions and aromatic spices, mujadara is considered a staple throughout the Middle East. Consisting of steamed Basmati Rice and Green Lentils cooked pilaf-style with golden-brown fried onions, mujadara is a pleasantly spicy-yet-sweet dish.
